It consists of a large Himalayan tract, along with submontane strips called Terai and Bhabar. The region is characterized by forests of Chir Pine, Himalayan Cypress, Pindrow Fir, alder, sal, and sandal. The climate is mild, with snow on higher ridges and severe frosts in valleys. |
